A small piece of a big internet event

This is for the people who read r/InternetIsBeautiful and Hacker News, and who remember the Million Dollar Homepage, or have at least heard of it. One wall, one opening moment, and a small piece of it for you.

How a spot works

Three moves, and that is all of it. You take a spot for $2. It is sealed on the wall with all the others, by strangers everywhere. Then everyone waits for the same second, and on 1 January 2050, 00:00 UTC, the whole world opens it together.

  1. Take a spot
  2. Seal it among strangers
  3. Open it together

One wall, exactly 1,000,000 spots

There is one capsule and one wall. The wall holds 1,000,000 spots and not one more: a hard limit, set once. Every spot costs the same $2.

Whoever takes a spot sits beside people they will never meet, on the same wall, waiting for the same second.

Everyone opens it at the same second

The capsule has one opening moment, and it belongs to everybody. On 1 January 2050, at 00:00 UTC, the whole world opens it together.

Sealed by strangers everywhere. Opened in the same second.
